He first submitted the original manga of Attack on Titan to the magazine Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Sirius in 2006, but it was rejected. He then submitted the manga to Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2009 and it was accepted. Isayama's artwork has been praised for its detailed backgrounds and dynamic action sequences.
